Chocolate Order Due Oct 14
Hello Everyone-
t is that time of year again … chocolate!!! I have attached the flier in word format. If you can’t open it I will post it on the web later this week so you can get it there www.grainsplus.com. Order are due October 14th.
There are a few changes with chocolate this year; we can no longer get butterscotch chips, white vanilla chips, white kreemy dipping or the milk chocolate stars. We can still get the white cocoa butter chips and white cocoa butter dipping.
If you haven’t ordered from me before … the chocolate comes from Blommer’s Chocolate Company in Northern California. It is so much better than anything you will find in the grocery store. All of their products are made from the highest quality ingredients. I have been using them for 7 years and have never been disappointed.
I have also included on the order form the ASAP Silver Biotics Solution. I think this is a must have for the cold and flu season. Visit www.silverbiotics.com for more information. The products are still on sale this month! I won’t be able to order them again at this price until next year, so order now before you need them.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks, Leslie

Why Do We need a Food Storage?

Why do we need food storage?
The number one reason to get our food storage is because the Prophets have been telling us for years to get our food storage. However, if you feel that you personally are excluded from this council (because nothing will ever happen). Maybe it is time to think again. In a time of extreme wide spread hardships, catastrophic illnesses or natural disasters, the church and now even the government may not be able to help you. Please seriously consider what this may mean to you and your family.
A friend sent me this article. I goggled it and it is true!
Good-Bye Wheat Supply!
IDAHO FALLS, ID - Quietly, the last of the U.S. government's wheat reserves, held in the Bill Emerson Humanitarian Trust, were sold in late May onto the domestic market for cash. The cash was put in a trust for food aid. With no other government wheat holdings, U.S. government wheat stocks are now totally exhausted.

"Our concern is that the U.S. has nothing else in our emergency food pantry. There is no cheese, no butter, no dry milk powder, no grains or anything else left in reserve."
"The only thing left in the entire CCC inventory will be 2.7 million bushels of wheat which is about enough wheat to make 1⁄2 of a loaf of bread for each of the 300 million people in America.”

3 Month Food Storage

Do you have your 3 month food storage?
I know you plan on eating rice, beans or wheat and will make it by, if you have to stay in your home for three months. Well, lets take a look at this way of thinking.
1# Do you have the water to cook your food?
If you are quarantined to your home...so will the water treatment plants employees and more importantly so will the electrical workers. No electricity=no water. (read more about this in my water blog...this information came from a city of Mesa water employee...Do not think I am making this up!) http://rureadyoasisverdeward.blogspot.com/2009/08/water-storage-and-purification.html
#2 How do you plan on cooking your food?
Do you have propane? Solar Oven? Dutch oven with charcoal? Do you have enough for 3 months? Do you have enough to heat water to clean you cooking pots and utensils? Sanitary conditions will be extremely important...you do not want to make everyone sick.
#3 Are you eating these foods daily now?
If you are not eating these types of foods now in your daily diet you will be in distress if you have to start eating them 3 times a day for months. I have nothing against beans, rice or whole wheat...we eat them everyday. In fact we ate beans in everyone of our meals last week. Beans are a cheap and great way to stretch your food budget.
#4 Do you have other ingredients to add to these items?
Have you heard of appetite fatigue? This is real! When a person is required to eat the something over and over they can become tried of eating it. So much so in fact, that they may stop eating all together. In the stress of a situation where you do not have access to your normal meals, activities, and basic electricity and water-do not set yourself up to make matters even more difficult for your family by choosing to eat one or two foods. A simple 7 day food rotation plan is better. Keep it simple, but do plan to eat more than one type of food.
#5 You will need protein to keep your body functioning.
Eating straight rice will not provide the protein you need. Rice and Beans or rice and corn make up a whole protein.
#6 How old is your food storage?
If you never check on your food storage it may be too old to use or it will taste funny. Please evaluate and inventory your long term food storage. Even canned foods need to be rotated. Canned tomatoes are usually only good for 1 year before the cans bulge. Throw away any cans that are bulging- they can make you very, very sick! I have opened two year old white rice only to find it rusted. If the oxygen packets that you originally canned with are not good then your canned items may not be any good. Please check your items at least every year and rotate!
#7 If you think you do not need to do anything to be prepared because you feel nothing is ever going to happen. Please evaluate your thinking! Prophets have told us for years to get our food storage. It started out as a 7-year, then 2 year, then 1 year and more recently they have urged us to get a 3 month supply of food and water. Just because we do not live on tornado ally or have other environmental factors knocking at our door does not mean we are excluded from being prepared. We have just as much to lose if we face storms of loss of income, severe illness, truckers strikes-stores only have 2 days of food on their shelves, at the most, -if something happens you will not be able to feed your children if you are not already prepared!
Please think about it! E-mail me or call me if you need help! sage1211@msn.com 380-9732

We live in the Days just as the time of Noah: LDS Mormon Prophets and Leaders warn and prepare us-Elder W.Don Lund. Amazing Preparedness video- only 3 minutes. This is truly a beautiful video . It may be the motivation that you need to help you to gain the strength to be prepared spiritually, emotionally and physically.
“Make Thee an Ark”
Elder W. Don LaddOf the Seventy
W. Don Ladd, “‘Make Thee an Ark’,” Ensign, Nov 1994, 28
“There are … so many kinds of voices in the world,” said the Apostle Paul to the Corinthians two thousand years ago (1 Cor. 14:10). They seemed to be troubled by the same conflicting messages we hear today, and it can be frightening when you consider how fragile and fickle the fabric of our society really is.
There have always been strident sounds and discordant voices, and our day is no exception. Every day in the newspapers, over television, in movies and magazines, we are bombarded with violence and immorality clothed in the enticing voices of permissiveness.
In His sermon on the mount, the Master admonished, “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof” (Matt. 6:34).
Sufficient, indeed, is the evil thereof unto this day in which we live. There seems to be a rising tide of evil, a flood of iniquity spreading throughout the world. Crime and violence are increasing at an alarming rate. Fear openly stalks our streets and invades our homes.
It has been said that you can tell the ideals of a nation by its advertisements, and many of the ones I see do not speak well of us. Someone said there was a time when movies were rated on how good they were, not on who was allowed to see them.
According to the Book of Mormon, the devil “seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself” (2 Ne. 2:27). The evidence of his handiwork is certainly about us. Elder Richard L. Evans once said, “If we don’t change direction, we will arrive at where we are going” (Richard Evans’ Quote Book, Salt Lake City: Publishers Press, 1971, p. 244).
It is not in idleness that our prophets admonish again and again to strengthen ourselves and our families—to hold family home evenings, to read and study the scriptures, to have daily personal and family prayers, and, to quote our prophet, Howard W. Hunter, to “treat each other with more kindness, more courtesy, more humility and patience and forgiveness” (Ensign, July 1994, p. 4).
The immoral influences of the world are especially destructive to children. But our children, like ourselves, aren’t going to live in a vacuum. They never have and they never will. In all their growing and developing, we can do much to help them, to protect them, and to guide them. But we cannot isolate them from the influences of their own time and generation. There will be times when other voices are in their ears, when other hands are on their shoulders, and when they are away from home.
We would do well, then, while ours is still the strongest influence in their lives, to give them a sure set of standards and a firm foundation of safe and sound principles.
The Lord said to Noah, “Make thee an ark” and “with thee will I establish my covenant” (Gen. 6:14, 18).
“And Noah did according unto all that the Lord commanded him. …
“And Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark” (Gen. 7:5, 23).
We all need to build a personal ark, to fortify ourselves against this rising tide of evil, to protect ourselves and our families against the floodwaters of iniquity around us. And we shouldn’t wait until it starts raining, but prepare in advance. This has been the message of all the prophets in this dispensation, including President Hunter, as well as the prophets of old.
Unfortunately we don’t always heed the clear warnings of our prophets. We coast complacently along until calamity strikes, and then we panic.
When it starts raining, it is too late to begin building the ark. However, we do need to listen to the Lord’s spokesmen. We need to calmly continue to move ahead and to prepare for what will surely come. We need not panic or fear, for if we are prepared, spiritually and temporally, we and our families will survive any flood. Our arks will float on a sea of faith if our works have been steadily and surely preparing for the future.
The key is to accept the invitation of our prophet, whom we sustained this morning, “to live with ever more attention to the life and example of the Lord Jesus Christ, especially the love and hope and compassion He displayed” (Ensign, July 1994, p. 4).
The most important thing we can do—young or old—is develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. If we do, we will always be comfortable with ourselves. Any questions of self-esteem and self-worth will diminish, and we will have a quiet confidence that will see us through any trial. And the Savior’s promise to us is “Fear not, little children, for you are mine, and I have overcome the world” (D&C 50:41).
Whatever the anxiety or fear or frustration, we have only to remember the Lord’s comforting words to the Prophet Joseph Smith in the Liberty Jail: “My son, peace be unto thy soul” (D&C 121:7). To each of us, He will always be there to say, “My son, my daughter, my child, peace be unto thy soul.”
And in return we should pledge, as did the poet George Herbert:
Sev’n whole dayes, not one in seven, I will praise thee. … Ev’n eternitie is too short To extoll thee. (“Praise [II],” The Works of George Herbert, ed. F. D. Hutchinson, Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1971, p. 146)
My brothers and sisters, I bear you my witness that Jesus is the Christ, that He indeed overcame the world through His atonement, and that He will always be there to comfort us if we will follow His example and do the will of the Father. And I do so in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

HoneyVille Grain Store- Local

There is a new Honeyville Grain Location. They have just opened a store in Chnadler off the I-10 and Chandler Blvd; located at 33 S. 56th St. They carry freeze dried fruits and veggies, all sorts of grains and pastas in bulk and cans, baking mixes, buckets, emergency preparedness products and much, much more. We want them to stay around so stop by if you get a chance. They even beat most of their own internet prices and you don't have to pay shipping!!
